Protesters Shut Down Rezoning Meeting for Big Residential Project in Williamsburg’s Broadway Triangle

Affordable housing protesters chanting and marching through a public meeting last night forced the Department of City Planning to call off what would have been the first stage of a public approval process to rezone part of the Broadway Triangle in South Williamsburg, which would pave the way for an eight-building residential development.

Townhouses Come Together at 127-131 South 1st Street in Williamsburg

As residential towers begin to rise around the former Domino Sugar factory in South Williamsburg, a much more modest project is nearing the finish line a few blocks inland, on South 1st Street between Berry Street and Bedford Avenue. Investmates Real Estate is putting the finishing touches on four two-family townhouses as 127-131 South 1st Street, not far from the Williamsburg Bridge or the restaurants and shops along the waterfront.
