Construction Update: FRANK 57WEST Rises On The Far West Side

If you’ve gone up the West Side Highway in Manhattan or up Port Imperial Boulevard in New Jersey, you’ve probably noticed the Durst Organization-developed Bjarke Ingels Group-designed Via tetrahedron. Not only is it visually striking, there has been a fair amount of press coverage. Additionally, its next-door neighbor, the high-rise Helena has been there for a decade now. But they are not the only Durst developments on the block bounded by Eleventh Avenue, West 57th Street, Twelfth Avenue, and West 58th Street.

Six-Story Commercial Conversion & Expansion Tops Out At 55 Water Street, Dumbo

The transformation of a five-story, 1860s-era warehouse into a six-story mixed-use commercial building is nearing completion at 55 Water Street, in Dumbo. According to Brownstoner, the structure’s sixth-floor addition has been constructed, and glass façade is now being installed. Dubbed Empire Stores, the building will yield 395,000 square feet of commercial space, which will be made up of offices, retail, restaurants, and exhibition space; rooftop gardens and outdoor public space are also featured.

Studio V Drawing Up Plans For Development Sites At 2-15 & 3-15 26th Avenue, Astoria

Studio V — the master planner behind the mixed-use and multi-building developments Astoria Cove and Hallets Point, in western Astoria — is conceptualizing plans for adjacent separately owned development sites at 2-15 and 3-15 26th Avenue. According to Crain’s, the plans are preliminary, but would similarly mirror the neighboring approved mixed-use developments, possibly rising above 30 stories. The properties must first be rezoned through ULURP, and existing low-rise warehouse structures would have to be demolished.
