Urban League Empowerment Center Nears Completion at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on the Urban League Empowerment Center, a 17-story mixed-use building at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Partners, the 414-000-square-foot structure will yield 170 affordable housing units, 70,000 square feet of Class A office space, and 110,000 square feet of retail area including a Target and a 28,000-square-foot Trader Joe’s on the ground floor. The development will serve as the home for the National Urban League and the Urban Civil Rights Experience Museum. Congress Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located between West 126th Street to the north, 125th Street to the south, Malcolm X Boulevard to the east, and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard to the west.

Designed by Handel Architects and developed by National Real Estate Advisors and Taconic Partners, the 401-foot-tall structure will yield 330 rental units, 28,000 square feet of amenities, and two floors of retail space. DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer and Triton Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, directly north of the Port Authority Bus Terminal and its subway station, servicing the A, C, and E trains.

Governor Hochul Announces Construction of 698-Unit Development at 405-407 West 206th Street in Inwood, Manhattan

This week Governor Kathy Hochul announced the start of construction on a $416 million residential development in Inwood, Manhattan. The two-building, mixed-income project at 405 and 407 West 206th Street will bring nearly 700 apartments with 281 affordable units with free broadband internet, all-electric heating and cooling, and other sustainable features in line with the state’s climate goals.
