Excavation Imminent for Four-Building Complex at 300 Nevins Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is set to begin at 300 Nevins Street, the site of a two-building residential project in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital, the 600,000-square-foot complex will yield 654 rental units with 25 percent designated as affordable housing, as well as ground-floor retail space and a public waterfront esplanade designed by James Corner Field Operations. Broadway Construction Group is the general contractor for the 2.3-acre full-block property, which is bound by Union Street to the north, Carroll Street to the south, Nevins Street to the east, the Gowanus Canal to the west.

Revel Opens New York’s Largest Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Hub at ‘The Dime’ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

The Dime Building at 275 South Fifth Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is now home to the largest ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in New York State. Building owners Charney Companies and Tavros Capital recently announced the deal with electric vehicle company Revel, which will also relocate its corporate headquarters to the development.

Construction has topped out on 44-54 Ninth Avenue, an eight-story commercial expansion project on the border of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital, the development involves the construction of a new office volume and the restoration of a row of a landmarked townhomes. Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the intersection of West 14th Street and Ninth Avenue.

Construction is progressing on 44-54 Ninth Avenue, an eight-story commercial expansion project above a row of landmarked townhomes on the border of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Tavros Capital, the new structure will stand 102 feet tall and yield offices and ground-floor retail space. Mepa Realty is the owner and Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternatively addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and is located at the corner of Ninth Avenue and West 14th Street.

Demolition is complete at 45-03 23rd Street, the site of a 544-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hunters Point, Queens. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital under the Court Square 45th Avenue LLC, the 50-story structure will yield a mix of condominiums, commercial space, and communal space. The site is located along 23rd Street between Jackson Avenue and 45th Avenue, directly to the east of the elevated subway tracks of the 7 train.

BKSK Architects will again appear before the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) seeking approvals to construct a sizable commercial expansion and restoration in Manhattan’s Gansevoort Historic District, also known as the Meatpacking District. Perched above the historic Dime Savings Bank at 275 South 5th Street, the property includes retail space, office suites, and an array of amenities. Exterior work is moving along at The Dime, a 23-story mixed-use building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located at 209 Havemeyer Street, the 350,000-square-foot project includes the refurbishment and incorporation of the 112-year-old landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh. The topped-out structure is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and developed by Charney Companies (formerly Charney Construction & Development) and Tavros Holdings. Douglas Elliman is handling leasing for The Dime’s 177 rental units, JLL is the commercial broker, and Ripco is in charge of the retail component. Grain Collective is the landscape architect, and 1 Oak Contracting is the general contractor.
