Permits Filed: 626 Bergen Avenue, La Central Supportive Housing, Melrose

At the very end of Bloomberg’s term as mayor, the city unveiled plans to transform a vacant city-owned tract in the Melrose neighborhood of the South Bronx into a million-square-foot affordable housing complex known as La Central. Now a new building application has been filed for the first part of the project, a nine-story supportive housing development at 626 Bergen Avenue.

Affordable Buildings Revealed At 1045 Fulton Street & 911 Atlantic Avenue, Clinton Hill

Earlier this month, YIMBY brought you news of Hudson Companies’ planned 39-unit affordable building at 1045 Fulton Street, in southern Clinton Hill, and now Curbed has renderings of the project, designed by Marvel Architects. Renderings depict an eight-story building, although applications have not yet been filed with the DOB. The site has been cleared of former buildings.

36-Story Public Library Redevelopment Revealed At 280 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn Heights

Renderings of Hudson Companies’ planned 36-story, 139-condo-unit mixed-use building at 280 Cadman Plaza West, in Brooklyn Heights, have been released by the Daily News. Designed by Marvel Architects, the building will feature a 21,500 square-foot library on the ground floor, as well as retail and community space. The project must first pass through ULURP approvals, which begin this week. The existing two-story library will be demolished, and the developer has promised to offer temporary space for the Brooklyn Heights branch during construction. Hudson has also committed to building 114 off-site affordable units on two Clinton Hill lots, at 911-917 Atlantic Avenue and 1041-1047 Fulton Street.


Cornell Tech Campus

26-Story Dorm Building Under Construction At Cornell Tech Campus, Roosevelt Island

The 26-story, 350-dorm-unit Passive House building in the works at Cornell Tech Campus, on Roosevelt Island below the 59th Street Bridge, is now under construction, according to The New York Times. The 270,000 square-foot building, designed by Handel Architects, would be the tallest Passive House building in the world upon completion in 2017. Hudson Companies, Cornell Tech and Related Companies are developing, and the entire $2 billion campus should be built out over the next two decades.
