JPMorgan Celebrates the Topping Out of its Supertall Headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction has structurally topped out on 270 Park Avenue, JPMorgan Chase‘s 1,388-foot supertall headquarters in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners with Adamsom Associates as the architect of record and developed by Tishman Speyer, 60-story skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees, and is the tallest project currently underway in New York. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the property, which spans a full city block bound by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.

Hospital For Special Surgery’s Expansion Begins to Take Shape on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Construction is underway on The Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Tower, a 12-story waterfront expansion of the Hospital For Special Surgery at 535 East 70th Street in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by EwingCole, the $200 million addition will span 100,000 square feet directly over FDR Drive and connect to the main hospital wing to the south via a sky bridge. Tishman Construction Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 71st and 72nd Streets.

The Gilder Center Opens at The American Museum of Natural History on Manhattan’s Upper West Side 

YIMBY attended the grand opening of the Gilder Center, a new five-story wing of the American Museum of Natural History at 415 Columbus Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang with Davis Brody Bond as the executive architect, the $465 million project involved the construction of 190,000 square feet of new exhibition space and 40,000 square feet of renovations to existing portions of the museum. Buro Happold was the façade consultant; W&W Glass, LLC supplied and installed the engineered custom curtain wall facades, skylights and entrance systems; Arup performed structural engineering and acoustic and audiovisual consulting; and Tishman Construction Company of New York was the general contractor for the facility, which is located by the intersection of Columbus Avenue and West 79th Street.

The Spiral’s Glass Façade Nears Completion at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Façade work is coming to a close on The Spiral, a 66-story commercial supertall at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 1,041-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 2.85 million square feet of office space and is expected to cost nearly $3.7 billion. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor, Banker Steel provided the steel work, and Permasteelisa is serving as the contractor for the glass enclosure for The Spiral, which occupies a full city block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and 34th and 35th Streets.
