Columbia’s Latest Buildings Rapidly Taking Shape on Manhattanville Campus

A pair of glass-clad buildings are quickly taking shape on Columbia University’s new Manhattanville campus. Formally named the Henry R. Kravis Building and the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Business Innovation, the two steel-framed structures will contain 450,000 square feet of classrooms, faculty offices, and lounge areas, and will feature multiple double-height spaces. Turner Construction Company is in charge of building the project designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with FXCollaborative.

Bjarke Ingels Group‘s 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral, is rapidly climbing above Hudson Yards. Like its next-door neighbor 50 Hudson Yards, the 66-story supertall has nearly doubled in height since YIMBY’s last update in December. Tishman Speyer is the developer, Turner Construction Company is the construction manager, and Banker Steel is in charge of fabricating the steel for the 1,031-foot-tall commercial office skyscraper, which is expected to cost $3.7 billion.

Tishman Speyer Confirms 530,000-Square-Foot Lease at The Spiral in Hudson Yards

Developer Tishman Speyer and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP have finalized negotiations for a massive 530,000-square-foot office at 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral. The global law firm expects to relocate its headquarters from 919 Third Avenue in the second half of 2022. With this latest transaction, Tishman Speyer has now successfully pre-leased 54 percent of the building.

Tishman Speyer is the developer, Turner Construction Company is the construction manager, and Banker Steel is in charge of fabricating the 66-story, $3.7 billion supertall.

Jacob K. Javits Center’s Massive Expansion Continues in Hudson Yards

Work on the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Center continues to progress in Hudson Yards. The massive expanse of steelwork is in place and offers a sense of the scale of the 1.2-million-square-foot addition. Tvsdesign is the designer and Empire State Development Corporation is the developer of the new northern wing, which is expected to cost $1.5 billion. Once completed, the project will bring the convention center’s combined square footage to 3.3 million and add an extra 22,000 square feet to the largest green roof in New York City. The construction and design build is being overseen by Lendlease in a joint venture with Turner Construction Company.
