Work Nears Completion on 540 West 25th Street in West Chelsea

When we last checked in on the site of 540 West 25th Street, the building had just topped out. The steel structure and metal decking was still mostly exposed. Now with the curtain wall installed, the new 60,000 square foot project is closer to completion. This will be the new headquarters for Pace Gallery, providing eight stories of gallery spaces, private viewing rooms, offices, and a library. The 135-foot tall building is designed by Bonetti/Kozerski Studio and developed by Weinberg Properties. Pace Gallery’s existing spaces are currently located at 508 & 510 West 25th Street next to the High Line.

Morris Adjmi’s Cantilevering 520 West 20th Street Making Headway in West Chelsea

Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects,”The Warehouse,” is located at 520 West 20th Street, next to the High Line between West 19th and 20th Streets. The project topped-out late last year, and is being developed by Elijah Equities. Standing above the West Chelsea neighborhood, the existing 50-foot tall brick structure is being preserved and refurbished. With the base now covered behind black and white-colored construction netting and scaffolding, work on the new three-story suspended and cantilevering metal structure up above continues atop the old roofline.

The “High Line Nine” Opens to the Public at 507 West 27th Street in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Located in the heart of Chelsea, and sitting adjacent to 520 West 28th Street designed by the late Zaha Hadid, the neighborhood’s newest art gallery has now opened beneath the High Line, and has been dubbed the “High Line Nine.” Developed by Related Companies, this highly anticipated project at 507 West 27th Street was inspired by European gallerias, and presents a new concept of mixing a museum, a gallery, an exhibition space, and a cafe within a continuous interior space created by Markus Dochantschi’s international design team at Studio MDA.

Studio Gang’s Geometric Solar Carve Tower Begins to Shine at 40 10th Avenue in Chelsea

Topping-out this past April, Studio Gang‘s Solar Carve Tower along Chelsea’s High Line is now nearing full completion as its dazzling glass facade rises above Tenth Avenue, between West 13th and 14th Streets. Located at 40 Tenth Avenue, and sitting to the immediate north of the Standard Hotel, the 10-story building will be entirely encased in glass, and constructed with reinforced concrete. The Jeanne Gang-designed structure will span 139,000 square feet in all, and is being co-developed by Aurora Capital and William Gottlieb Real Estate.
