Upper Half of 1 South First Begins to Conjoin Above Domino Sugar Factory Redevelopment, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

When YIMBY last checked in on 260 Kent Avenue, the building had only risen a few floors over Domino Park. Now, construction workers are bridging the gap between the two reinforced concrete structures that make up the bottom half of the structure. The 435-foot tall residential tower is being designed by COOKFOX, and will yield 462,000 square feet of space. There will be 330 rentals, 66 affordable units, and 150,000 square feet of office space spread among 22 floors, as well as 13,000 square feet of retail space at the base. Recent photos show the first level of the upper half being assembled.

Williamsburg’s Newest Skyscraper Revealed at 159 Broadway, Adjacent to the Williamsburgh Savings Bank

Flying under the radar for some time, excavation work on 159 Broadway Avenue is beginning to make some progress in Williamsburg. Today, YIMBY also has the first rendering for the impressively-scoped project, thanks to the construction fencing. Situated across from Peter Luger Steakhouse and immediately south of the Williamsburg Bridge, the site sits adjacent to the Williamsburgh Savings Bank. The 144-year old landmarked, domed structure will soon be surpassed by its future 133,340 square foot, 277-foot tall neighbor. This upcoming tower is set to become one of the tallest buildings in the neighborhood. It is being designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and is being developed by Cornell Realty Management LLC.

Permits have been filed for a five-story residential building at 18 Monitor Street, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located between Richardson Street and Herbert Street east of the BQE, the interior site is eight blocks from the Graham Avenue subway station, serviced by the L train. Gentian Shyti is listed as responsible for the development.

420 Kent Avenue‘s triplet of glass-covered residential towers rising next to each other along the East River waterfront in Williamsburg are nearing completion, with facade installation nearly finished. Designed by ODA New York and developed by Spitzer Enterprises, recent photos by YIMBY followers show the site’s substantial progress. The development is located to the south of the Williamsburg Bridge, along Kent Avenue between Broadway and South 9th Street.

Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, the warehouse-inspired residential building stands six stories tall, and nine spacious condominiums are located within.

DDG Files For Substantial New Project at 106 North 1st Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Another apartment building is coming to Williamsburg. The new seven-story residential project at 106 North 1st will have commercial space on the ground floor. The neighborhood has seen an influx of condos in the past few years, and an office development is currently in the works directly across the street, at 107 North 1st Street.

Domino Redevelopment’s 42-Story 260 Kent Avenue Gets First Glass & Molecular-Inspired Facade

Glass is starting to rise at 260 Kent Avenue, and there’s something strangely pleasing about the new façade. The clean pre-cast concrete panels are shockingly white, and have deeply set back windows. The molecular pattern and forms of sugar crystals inspired the unusual design, as an homage to the Domino Sugar Factory that used to dominate the Williamsburg waterfront.

New Residential Buildings Revealed at 312-314 Keap Street in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Excavation has kicked off on two neighboring residential structures at 312-314 Keap Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and today YIMBY has an exclusive first look at renderings for the projects.
