The first marble panels have begun to cover the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, a 138-foot-tall cubic structure on the World Trade Center site in the Financial District. Designed by REX with Davis Brody Bond Architects as the executive architect and developed by non-profit company The Perelman, the venue is located between Skidmore Owings & Merrill‘s One World Trade Center to the west, Vesey Street to the north, Fulton Street to the south, and Greenwich Street to the east.

As New York City and the United States remembers and commemorates the 20th anniversary of 9/11, YIMBY once again takes a look at the sacred 16-acre World Trade Center site, which holds the two square footprints of the former Twin Towers that are part of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. We focus on the active and ongoing construction of the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and the current state of Two and Five World Trade Center. Façade work is continuing to progress on St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, a reinforced concrete structure atop the elevated Liberty Park in the Financial District. Designed by  Santiago Calatrava and developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the church is found near the intersection of Greenwich Street and Liberty Street and sits above the eastern half of the vehicle security center for the World Trade Center.

At a ceremony on June 23, the final steel beam for the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center was signed and lifted into place atop the Financial District structure. Designed by REX with Davis Brody Bond Architects as the executive architect and developed by an independent non-profit company called The Perelman, the cubic performance building stands 138 feet tall at the northern end of the original 16-acre World Trade Center complex, bound by Greenwich Street to the east, Vesey Street to the north, Fulton Street to the south, and Skidmore Owings & Merrill‘s One World Trade Center to the west.
