Several protesters glued their hands together and chanted loudly in opposition to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s two big zoning policies yesterday at City Hall, but the City Council still passed the two affordable housing proposals, Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) and Zoning for Quality and Affordability (ZQA), with little opposition.
The city’s top housing officials spent Wednesday trading barbs with the City Council, defending sweeping changes to the zoning code that would allow taller buildings and smaller parking lots for affordable and senior housing projects.
The City Planning Commission officially kicked off the public review process yesterday for the administration’s three major housing policies to date: mandatory inclusionary zoning, zoning for quality and affordability, and the East New York rezoning.
