Two-Tower Complex Begins Ascent at 346 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

At number 20 on YIMBY’s annual countdown of the tallest buildings underway in New York is 346 Kent Avenue, a two-tower residential complex in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Selldorf Architects and developed by Two Trees, the 565-foot-tall project is also known as Site D in the Domino Sugar waterfront master plan from SHoP Architects and James Corner Field Operations. YIMBY last reported that 346 Kent Avenue will consist of 36- and 31-story towers rising from a shared eight-story podium, as well as a landscaped public plaza directly to the north between 346 Kent Avenue and the former Domino Sugar Refinery at 292 Kent Avenue. 346 Kent Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Kent Avenue to the east and River Street and Domino Park to the west. A previous height of 575 feet tall was proposed, but YIMBY was told the new number has been scaled down, though an exact figure has yet to be given.

Domino Sugar Signage Installed Atop The Refinery at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction on the Domino Sugar Refinery has reached a major milestone with the installation of the signature signage atop the 140-year-old former factory, which is undergoing a commercial conversion and expansion at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and developed by Two Trees, the $250 million project is known as The Refinery and involves a full gut renovation and construction of a 27,000-square-foot glass-clad barrel vault atop the parapet, bringing the structure’s total height to 235 feet. Dencityworks and Bonetti/Kozerski are the interior designers for the property, which is located along the East River waterfront between South 2nd and South 3rd Streets.

Permits Filed for 1336 Dekalb Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn

Located between Wilson Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, the lot is near the Central Avenue subway station, serviced by the M train. At number 25 on our December countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in the New York area is The Paxton, a 43-story mixed-use skyscraper at 540 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Jenel Management, the 511-foot-tall structure will yield 330,000 square feet with 327 residential units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, as well as 137,075 square feet of office space and 33,000 square feet of retail space in the multi-story podium. M.N.S. is handling sales and marketing for the residential component of the property, which is located by the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street.

Permits Filed for 1073 Willoughby Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn

Located between Central Avenue and Wilson Avenue, the lot is within walking distance of the Central Avenue subway station, serviced by the M train. 625 Fulton Street Rises Above Street Level in Downtown Brooklyn

At number 26 on our year-end countdown of the tallest structures underway in New York is 625 Fulton Street, a 35-story mixed-use skyscraper currently rising in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects and developed by Rabsky Group, which secured $450 in construction financing from Madison Realty Capital to complete the project, the 500-foot-tall structure will yield 1,098 units, 26,000 square feet of retail space, and a parking garage for up to 250 vehicles. Galaxy Developers is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by the 34-story 80 DeKalb Avenue to the north, Fulton Street to the south, Rockwell Place to the east, and Hudson Avenue to the west.

Demolition Nearly Complete for 43-Story Skyscraper at 356 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn

At number 27 on our year-end countdown is 356 Fulton Street, a 43-story mixed-use skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by MdeAS Architects and SLCE Architects and developed by Extell, who paid and signed an $85.9 million long-term ground lease to take over the site from The Feil Organization, the 496-foot-tall structure will yield 475,000 square feet with 421 residential units and 100,000 square feet of commercial retail space. Titan Industrial SVC Corp. is in charge of demolition at the property, which has two more buildings to tear down, and is located at the corner of Fulton Street and Red Hook Lane.

Designed and developed by Alloy Development, the 482-foot-tall structure will yield 441 units with 45 residences dedicated to affordable housing. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Flatbush Avenue to the northeast, Third Avenue to the northwest, and State Street to the southwest.
