Permits have been filed for a 12-story mixed-use building at 1074 Washington Avenue, in Morrisania, The Bronx. The area was originally part of the massive estate for the powerful Morris Family. The site is six blocks away from the Melrose train station, serviced by Metro North’s Harlem Line. Fifteen blocks away is the Prospect Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Bronx Pro Group will be responsible for the development. The firm is dedicated to creating and managing energy-efficient affordable housing. In the past, they have created passive housing projects, including 3365 Third Avenue.
Permits have been filed for an eight-story residential building at 27 East 198th Street, in The Bronx’s Jerome Park neighborhood. The site is four blocks away from the Bedford Park Boulevard Station, serviced by the D trains, and five blocks away from the Kingsbridge Road subway station, serviced by the 4 trains. Vilson Lumaj is listed as responsible for the development.
When it comes to new developments, stadiums are a rarity in New York City. But today, YIMBY has the first look at an enormous project coming to the South Bronx waterfront, dubbed Harlem River Yards, submitted to the city by a Related-led partnership. The plans would rise adjacent to Somerset Partners’ assortment of new towers already in the works, adding another major affordable housing building, as well as the City’s first dedicated soccer stadium, with 26,000 seats, designed by Rafael Viñoly. The total cost is projected at $700 million.
New high-rises aren’t a frequent occurrence in Upper Manhattan, but one such project currently rising at 543 West 122nd Street, in Morningside Heights, now has its first renderings. The development will be known as Vandewater, taken from the original Dutch name for the area. Savanna is responsible for the development, and Curbed was the first to reveal the new images.
