Exterior work is wrapping up on Rose Hill, a 639-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by Rockefeller Group, the 45-story tower features a distinctive Art Deco-inspired façade and will yield 123 condominiums marketed by CORE Real Estate. Sales have launched for the homes, which come in one- to four-bedroom layouts and range in price from $1.385 million to upward of $19.5 million for the penthouse unit. Rose Hill’s name is derived from the former 130-acre Rose Hill Farm estate that once occupied this part of Midtown, Manhattan. The property is situated between Madison Avenue to the west and Park Avenue South to the east.

Façade work has reached the crown of 150 East 78th Street, a 16-story residential building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Developed by Midwood Investment & Development and EJS Group and designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects with Ismael Leyva Architects as executive architect and residential layout designer, the 205-foot-tall property will yield 25 units ranging from three- to five-bedroom condominiums. Sales have launched and are being handled by Compass Development Marketing Group. 150 East 78th Street is found at the corner of East 78th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Thomas Heatherwick’s Little Island Opens To The Public In Chelsea, Manhattan

As the city begins to open up and recover, one new attraction that is sure to draw people to its unique architectural design and green space is Thomas Heatherwick‘s Little Island, which just opened to the public this morning at Pier 55 in Chelsea. The 2.4-acre park sits over the Hudson River and features landscape design by MNLA. Hudson River Park Trust is managing the park, which was inspired by a leaf floating on water and utilizes a total of 132 funnel-shaped concrete “pots”that elegantly undulate to form hills, open lawns, winding paths, and even a spot for an amphitheater. Arup served as the project engineers for Little Island, which is located just off of West 14th Street, a short distance from Renzo Piano’s Whitney Museum and Chelsea Market. The cost of the project is around $250 million.

Sales Gallery Opens for CetraRuddy-Designed Eastlight, in Kips Bay, Manhattan

Work is progressing on Eastlight, a 34-story, 388-foot-tall condominium building in Manhattan’s Kips Bay. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by 200 East 34th LLC, which is listed as the owner on permits, the 135,094-square-foot project will yield 144 condominiums and 2,992 square feet of commercial space on the lower levels. The site is located at 501 Third Avenue, at the corner of Third Avenue and East 34th Street and is alternately addressed as 200 East 34th Street. Alongside the recent launch of the building’s website, the 4,600-square-foot sales gallery is also now open on the 29th floor of 475 Park Avenue South. Views of Eastlight are visible from within, and the gallery also includes a full-scale model of the building and its location in Manhattan in relation to nearby neighborhoods such as NoMad, Midtown, Gramercy Park, and the Flatiron District.

Domino Sugar Refinery Prepares for Office Conversion at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction work is ramping up for the office conversion of the 140-year-old Domino Sugar Refinery at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and developed by Two Trees, the project is the centerpiece of the Domino Sugar master plan by SHoP Architects and James Corner Field Operations and involves the construction of a massive barrel-vaulted glass roof atop the former factory. When complete, the structure will top out at 235 feet tall, while the interiors will be gutted and restored. Levels one through four, as well as 14 and 15 will have their ceiling spans increased, and the 16th floor will be eliminated.
