YIMBY Tours Extell’s Brooklyn Point, the Borough’s Tallest Tower, in Downtown Brooklyn

YIMBY recently went on a hard hat tour of Brooklyn Point, aka 138 Willoughby Street, in Downtown Brooklyn. At 720 feet high and 68 stories, the reinforced concrete skyscraper is currently the tallest tower in all of Brooklyn, as well as the third and final phase of the City Point complex. Kohn Pedersen Fox is the designer of the new building, while SLCE Architects is serving as the architect of record. The rising glass curtain wall is crossing the halfway mark and will soon enclose the entire edifice in a staggered pattern of double-height glass and white-colored rectangular frames. AD 100 designer Katherine Newman is designing interior spaces. The first closings for the studio to three-bedroom units are expected to begin in early 2020, with pricing starting at $850,000. Coveted New York-based developer Extell is working on other massive projects like One Manhattan Square and Central Park Tower, New York’s current tallest skyscraper by roof height and the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere.

YIMBY Takes in the Rising Skyline From Atop 53 West 53rd Street, in Midtown

YIMBY recently went on a hard hat tour of the upper floors of Jean Nouvel’s 53 West 53rd Street residential skyscraper. The uniquely tapered diagrid structure is topped out at 1,050 feet with the façade almost entirely installed. The supertall is being developed by Hines, while SLCE Architects and Adamson Associates are the architects of record. The condominiums are being marketed by Corcoran Sunshine.

YIMBY Tours Skyline Tower, Queens’ Future Tallest Building

YIMBY recently went on a hard hat tour of Skyline Tower, aka 23-15 44th Drive. The residential skyscraper will eventually rise 778 feet over Long Island City and become the tallest building in Queens, as well as the tallest building in New York City outside of Manhattan. Work has progressed to the 26th floor of the future 67-story tower, and construction crews have been pouring the reinforced slabs at a rapid rate of two floors per week.

Central Park Tower Surpasses 432 Park Avenue to Become The Tallest Residential Building in The Western Hemisphere

Fresh photos of Central Park Tower, aka 217 West 57th Street, show that the exterior safety netting has now reached the 92nd floor, and with formwork for the reinforced concrete following, construction has officially surpassed the 1,396-foot-tall rooftop parapet of 432 Park Avenue, making the supertall the tallest residential structure in New York and the Western Hemisphere. The imminently 1,550-foot tower is being designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, while Extell is the developer.
