141 Willoughby Street’s Superstructure Nears Halfway Mark in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction is nearing the halfway mark on 141 Willoughby Street, a 24-story commercial building in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger with SLCE as the executive architect and developed by Savanna Real Estate, which secured $264 million in construction financing earlier this year, the 400,000-square-foot structure will yield a mix of office and retail space on a trapezoidal plot bound by Willoughby Street to the south, Gold Street to the west, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the east. Gilbane Building Company and Savcon are the general contractors for the project.

Olympia’s Façade Installation Continues at 30 Front Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn

Exterior work is progressing on Olympia, a 26-story residential building at 30 Front Street in DUMBOBrooklyn. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group with Workstead leading the interior design, the 401-foot-tall structure will yield 76 condominiums marketed by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of the Eklund Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman and Karen Heyman at Sotheby’s. Urban Atelier Group is managing construction, Manhattan Concrete created the reinforced concrete superstructure, and King Contacting Group is in charge of the CMU work, exterior insulation finish systems, and roofing for the project, which is bound by Front Street to the north, Washington Street to the east, and York Street to the south.

BIG’s Two-Towered River Ring Secures Approvals, on Williamsburg Waterfront

The proposed two-skyscraper development River Ring, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Two Trees Management, is closer to fruition after Community Board 1 approval. The 3.5-acre project would bring 1,050 homes with 263 affordable housing units, a six-acre circular waterfront park designed by James Corner Field Operations, a YMCA community facility, 2,000 construction jobs, and more than 500 permanent jobs to the Brooklyn waterfront in Williamsburg.
