Full demolition permits have been filed for 4023 and 4037 Broadway, 600 West 170th Street, and 601 West 169th Street in Washington Heights. According to the filing, the four adjacent sites are owned by New York Presbyterian under Royal Charter Properties. The assemblage currently houses three mixed-use buildings with 13 residential units and 11 commercial units and was built in 1950.

The second quarter of 2020, without a doubt, has brought more upheaval to New York and the United States at large than any period since September of 2001. However, in spite of all of the challenges, the city is continuing to grow: 476 new building permits were filed in the three-month period from April through June, spanning 9,309 multi-family units, with the full rundown of all the new developments in Excel format available at the link. While this was down somewhat from Q2 2019’s 12,123 residential unit filings for the same time period, it was still up substantially from 7,010 filings during Q2 of 2018, indicating that New York City’s economic engine remains revving.

Today the Landmarks Preservation Commission will hear proposals from Hermès of Paris to renovate a historic structure at 706 Madison Avenue in Manhattan’s Upper East Side Historic District. Built in 1921, the five-story Neo-Federal style building comprises approximately 40,000 square feet and includes two outdoor terraces. The scope of renovation includes the replacement of existing windows, doors, and metal railings.
