Renderings Reveal the Cancelled ‘Women’s Building’ Project at 550 West 20th Street in Chelsea

The years-long initiative to renovate and repurpose the defunct Bayview Correctional Facility in Chelsea may never be revived following an abrupt cancellation by the NoVo Foundation and Goren Group in 2019. Referred to as the Women’s Building, the structure at 550 West 20th Street would have repurposed and expanded the former all-female prison, renderings of which have been released by Spacesmith and Davis Brody Bond.

The Spiral’s Steel Superstructure Continues to Rise at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards

Bjarke Ingels Group‘s 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral, is rapidly climbing above Hudson Yards. Like its next-door neighbor 50 Hudson Yards, the 66-story supertall has nearly doubled in height since YIMBY’s last update in December. Tishman Speyer is the developer, Turner Construction Company is the construction manager, and Banker Steel is in charge of fabricating the steel for the 1,031-foot-tall commercial office skyscraper, which is expected to cost $3.7 billion.

Norman Foster’s 50 Hudson Yards Supertall Continues Ascent in Hudson Yards

50 Hudson Yards continues to climb toward its 1,011-foot-tall parapet in Midtown. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the steel superstructure is covered in safety netting as it rises up around the reinforced concrete core. The 2.9-million-square-foot commercial project is developed by Oxford Properties and Mitsui Fudosan and is the final component in first phase of Related Companies‘ 28-acre Hudson Yards master plan.

Meridian Capital Group Inks $18.85M Financing for Fordham Landing Development in the Bronx

Developers behind a sprawling mixed-use community in The Bronx recently secured an $18.85 million injection from Meridian Capital Group, one of the largest mortgage brokerage firms in the United States. The funding is specifically allocated to facilitate the construction of a new building at 2475 Exterior Street located along the Harlem River, immediately south of the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.
