One Vanderbilt’s 1,401-Foot Pinnacle Set To Be Reached Later Today As Spire Installation Commences, in Midtown East

On Monday, YIMBY reported that One Vanderbilt’s crown is now structurally finished. Only two days later, the rest of the spire is almost complete for the 1,401-foot high supertall, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green. Remaining sections for the 100-foot-tall spire have arrived on site, and were spotted on the eastern side of the property along Vanderbilt Avenue, as the initial components were lifted into place and installed atop the tower yesterday afternoon. Full completion of the spire is likely later today.

One Vanderbilt has reached a huge milestone as construction has topped out on the supertall commercial skyscraper’s tiered steel crown. Workers will soon begin assembly of the 100-foot-tall architectural spire, which will bring the project’s total height to 1,401 feet. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the 77-story Midtown East tower will have a three-story indoor and outdoor public observatory situated at 1,020 feet above street level. Construction of the spire could conceivably finish before the end of the week, given the tremendous speed with which One Vanderbilt has shot upward into the sky.

The project team at J Frankl Associates has released renderings of 1021-1023 38th Street, a new seven-story community building in Kensington, Brooklyn. The recently approved development will contain 3,109 square feet of commercial office space and a 37,2018-square-foot community facility for a total 40,137 square feet.

Construction has resumed for the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, tenants are steadily filling the 2.5 million square feet of office space at Three World Trade Center, and tourists and locals are experiencing Memorial Glade, the newest section of the 9/11 Memorial. The installation of the outside envelope on all levels of “The Dime” in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is nearing the finishing mark. The topped-out, 23-story mixed-use complex is located at 209 Havemeyer Street and stands close to the elevated Marcy Avenue subway station. Fogarty Finger Architecture is in charge of designing the new building, which rises behind the 111-year-old, landmarked Dime Savings Bank, while Charney Construction & Development and Tavros Holdings are developing the 350,000-square-foot complex. Douglas Elliman is handling leasing, JLL is the commercial broker, and Ripco is handling the retail component.
