Renderings Revealed for Morris Adjmi-Designed 119-121 2nd Avenue, East Village

Plans for the replacement at 119-121 2nd Avenue have been submitted to the Landmark Preservation Commission, allowing the public a first look at what may be coming to an East Village corner. The three lots previously on the site were cleared from the devastating 2015 East Village gas explosion, which injured 19 and caused two deaths. The two lots were purchased for $9.15 million in 2017, and permits were filed in late February 2018 for the replacement. Nexus Development will be responsible for the rebuild, first revealed by EV Grieve.

Tishman Speyer’s BIG Supertall Spiral Officially Breaks Ground, Hudson Yards

The prominence of the Hudson Yards district continues to grow, and today, Tishman Speyer has announced the official start of construction for The Spiral. The 1,031-foot tall building will be the fifth supertall added to the area. An event to mark the occasion will be held this afternoon, and will conclude with the planting of a 20-foot Alaskan Cedar tree to serve as Hudson Boulevard & Park’s annual Christmas tree.

Permits Pre-Filed for 640 Columbia Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn

Permits are now processing for a sizable new three-story building at 640 Columbia Street, in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The filings confirm movement on a new multi-level commercial distribution center by Dov Hertz and the Innovo Property Group, making this the second large warehouse by the pair in the Five Boroughs. Their first project, still under development, is 2050 Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx. The Red Hook site would be right next to IKEA, with close proximity to the I-278 and I-478, which would give trucks quick access to Manhattan, Long Island, and New Jersey through Staten Island.

1 Beekman Street Tops Out Above City Hall Park

Nicknamed the “Pearl On The Park,” and located next to the Beekman Hotel at 5 Beekman Street and directly adjacent to COOKFOX’s 59-story residential tower rising at 25 Park Row, 1 Beekman Street has officially topped-out at 25 stories in height. Construction has progressed quickly over the past year, and demolition and excavation of the site only began two years ago.
