This past summer, mysterious soil and bedrock tests were conducted at 200 Amsterdam Avenue, between 69th and 70th Streets on the Upper West Side, and now SJP Properties, partnered with Japan-based Mitsui Fudosan, is in contract to purchase the property for nearly $300 million. The site has nearly 400,000 square feet of air rights, and the developers plan to build a 55-story condominium tower, which could reportedly be one of the tallest in the neighborhood, per The Real Deal. An existing former religious structure must first be demolished.
