Site Prep Begins on CityPoint Phase II

Aerial rendering of the full City Point development in Downtown Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn has seen a boom in residential construction, and yet another piece of the puzzle is falling into place. CityPoint’s phase II is slated to begin construction imminently, as The Brownstoner has announced site preparation is now underway.

The above rendering shows the completed phase II of CityPoint as well as the almost-open phase I. Phase I is visible at the lower left corner of the development. As the rendering makes clear, phase I is minuscule compared to the second phase, which will make a significant impact on the neighborhood.

Phase II is supposed to be complete by 2015. Two residential towers will rise as well as a major addition to the complex base, adding 500,000 square feet of retail to the 50,000 that was part of phase I.

Not pictured in the renderings is the third phase of the development, which preliminary renderings have shown as a roughly 700 foot tower. Whether that is built or not remains to be seen, but it would be nice if CityPoint did feature a skyline-altering tower, given Downtown Brooklyn’s imminent plateau of 500-600 foot buildings.
