George Xu’s Century Development is transforming Flushing with big mixed-use projects, and YIMBY has a look at their latest development, a 14-story condo-hotel hybrid planned at 134-37 35th Avenue, on the corner of Farrington Street.
In October 2014, YIMBY reported on the ground breaking of a 54-story, 538-unit residential tower in the heart of Jersey City’s Journal Square neighborhood. The building, the first within the larger Journal Squared project, now stands 19 stories tall, and is slated for completion in mid-2016, per The Jersey Journal. The other two towers will stand 60 and 70 stories, containing 600 and 700 additional residential units respectively. Kushner Real Estate Group is developing, while HWKN and Handel Architects are designing.
Gateway Estates, a multi-phased development consisting of affordable residential units and commercial space in southern East New York, is now preparing for its final phase of construction. The city is behind schedule in building the proper infrastructure, and work won’t be finished until late 2017, per the New York Daily News, but 1,295 apartments and 225 homes are planned on the vacant land. Financing is expected to close by the end of this year. Nehemiah, the Department of Design and Construction, Metro Industrial Areas Foundation and Monadnock Construction are developing.
A four-story nursing home at 123 Linden Boulevard in Flatbush hit the market in early 2014 asking $20 million. Now the new owner has filed plans for a 57-unit apartment building on the site between Bedford and Rogers Avenues.
In the summer of 2014, YIMBY reported on filings for a five-story, 81-unit residential building at 10 Lexington Avenue and 2 Downing Street, in the southern half of Clinton Hill, and now the building is under construction, currently two stories above street level. According to Brownstoner, the building will measure 55,341 square feet in total, and units will average a rental-sized 683 square feet. Joseph Brunner, of Fulton Street Holdings, is developing, and Zambrano Architectural Design is the architect. Completion is expected in the end of 2016.
