Circular Construction Hub Pilot Launches At MADE Bush Terminal In Sunset Park, Brooklyn

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has launched a year-long pilot of the Circular Construction Hub at MADE Bush Terminal, the 20-acre adaptive reuse campus at 13 42nd Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The hub will be operated by Our Temenos, a Brooklyn-based certified M/WBE ecological landscaping firm, and will focus on the recovery, sorting, storage, and redistribution of select construction materials. The initiative marks the first award issued under NYCEDC’s “Ideas for Impact” Request for Expressions of Interest, an open solicitation inviting nonprofits, startups, academic institutions, and community organizations to propose partnerships advancing the agency’s economic development priorities.

In Plain Sight, a free, yearlong public art exhibition, opened June 4 at Brooklyn Army Terminal and the Brooklyn Wholesale Meat Market in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Curated by Debra Simon of Debra Simon Art Consulting in partnership with NYCEDC and WXY architecture + urban design, the exhibition features 12 Brooklyn-based artists and uses the waterfront industrial campus as a site-specific canvas.

Construction is rising on 6208 Eighth Avenue, a 28-story mixed-use building in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Designed by Raymond Chan Architect and developed by a joint venture between Watermark Capital and Rubin Equities, the structure will yield 497 units and 100,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. A portion of the apartments will be reserved for affordable housing. The property is located between 61st and 64th Streets.

BATWorks Temporary Facility Opens At Brooklyn Army Terminal In Sunset Park, Brooklyn

The temporary home for BATWorks, a new climate innovation hub at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, has officially opened. The facility will support climate technology companies through programming, piloting, and commercialization, while also providing workforce development and green job training for local residents. The permanent hub, currently under construction within Building A, is expected to open in 2028.

Exterior work is progressing on 6414 8th Avenue, an eight-story mixed-use building in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Designed by Basic Groups Corp. and developed by Guan Yu Li, the 88-foot-tall structure will span 19,187 square feet with 11,334 square feet of community facility space and 7,853 square feet of commercial space. The project will also include a cellar and 68 enclosed parking spaces. The 8,000-square-foot property is located at the corner of 8th Avenue and 65th Street.

Housing Lottery Launches for One Sunset at 201 25th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for One Sunset, a 14-story mixed-use building at 201 25th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Developed by Ailanthus, BEB Capital, and SK Development and designed by Dencityworks and Alchemy Studio, the structure yields 187 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 48 units for residents at 30 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $28,766 to $189,540.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has broken ground on the redevelopment of Pier 6 at the MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The $25 million project will transform the 5-acre pier into a public waterfront space, integrating green space, historic preservation, and resilient infrastructure. Design work is being led by Arcadis, Matrix New World, SCAPE Landscape Architecture DPC, Sam Schwartz Engineering, Johnson & Asberry, and JK Muir. The MADE Bush Terminal, which was unveiled in November 2024, serves as a hub for manufacturers, artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs.
