6-Story Low-Rise Coming to 52 Wooster Street

Permits have been approved for a new building at 52 Wooster Street in SoHo, by architect Arpad Baksa. The firm has several projects underway in New York, and evidently has a knack for historic-minded development.

Renderings of the small-scale structure – which will have 5 units over 6 floors – show a contextual low-rise that respects the architectural traditions of the neighborhood. 52 Wooster Street’s details aren’t nearly as ornate as those of adjacent pre-war buildings, but that is not to be expected; instead, Baksa merges a modern take on pre-war metal-work with a brick facade.

52 Wooster will cater to the boutique luxury market, as the residences will share over 10,000 square feet of space – the bottom floor will have an 1,800 square foot retail component, as well. The developer is Rock Springs Management.
