The building stands out among the surrounding blocks. Kohn Pedersen Fox’s 17-Story Addition at 441 Ninth Avenue Progresses Above Midtown

Standing one block away from the Manhattan West complex is 441 Ninth Avenue. Located between 34th Street and 35th Street, the site sits among a hive of construction projects that have since sprouted in this section of Midtown. The mixed-use project will soon consist of a new 17-story addition above an existing eight-story 57-year-old building. There will be several retail spaces on the ground floor, as well as office and commercial space above. Cove Property and Baupost Group are the developers of the 700,000 square foot project, named “Hudson Commons.” Kohn Pedersen Fox is in charge of the design for the new extension.

YIMBY has covered plans for a new office building at 1241 Broadway extensively over the past few weeks, first reporting on the applications and initial rendering, and then checking in on site progress. Today, we can reveal the updated current design thanks to developer Michael Kirchmann of GDSNY, who also told us all about the project and its burgeoning surrounds in an interview ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled for this morning. Rafael Vinoly’s 277 Fifth Avenue Nearing Finish Line in NoMad

With the elevator coming down from 277 Fifth Avenue‘s western frontage over the past several weeks, the final form of the building’s exterior, comprised of dark panels, vertical window strips, and open-air terraces, is almost fully visible. Designed by Rafael Vinoly, developed by Victor Group and Lendlease, and marketed by Corcoran, the 52-story residential tower stands 728 feet atop NoMad, and is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the area.
