New high-rises aren’t a frequent occurrence in Upper Manhattan, but one such project currently rising at 543 West 122nd Street, in Morningside Heights, now has its first renderings. The development will be known as Vandewater, taken from the original Dutch name for the area. Savanna is responsible for the development, and Curbed was the first to reveal the new images.

The project is rising beside the existing Jewish Theological Seminary, and uses the land of the seminary’s former library building. Savanna purchased the site and air rights from the JTS for $96 million.

The 345-foot tall structure will yield over 300,000 square feet. 183 condominiums will be created, averaging roughly 1,500 square feet apiece. Tenants will have access to more than 24,000 square feet of amenities, including a fitness center, private gardens, and shared outdoor dining space. The tower will come with views of the Manhattan skyline, Central Park, and the Hudson River.

Incorporated Architecture & Design is responsible for the design, with SLCE Architects serving as the executive architect.

Construction is currently underway. The estimated completion date has not yet been announced.
