Construction has topped out on 251 West 14th Street, an 11-story residential project in Chelsea. Designed by Isay Weinfeld and FORM4 Design Studio PLLC and constructed by Pizzarotti, the property is located along West 14th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and will yield 25 condominium units.

Recent photos show progress on the cantilevering steel superstructure since our last update in late January, when work had just resumed after being stalled for the previous year.

The open-air voids between each floor plate on the lower levels remain covered with large white plastic sheets and orange netting, with temporary wooden railings on the main setback.

So far none of the façade components have been installed. Renderings depict the curtain comprised of light gray stone with an irregular pattern of rectangular floor-to-ceiling windows of varying sizes. The three-story cantilevering volume will be clad in darker stone and feature the same unorthodox window layout. Overall, the building massing respects the setbacks of the adjacent eastern building and continues that flat roof line.

Possible residential amenities and interior renderings haven’t been revealed yet. The nearest subways are the A, C, E, and L trains found along Eighth Avenue to the west, while the 1, 2, and 3 trains are located along Seventh Avenue to the west. A large number of retail, dining, and entertainment options are scattered across Chelsea, Greenwich Village, and the Meatpacking District.

There has not been a revised completion date, though YIMBY predicts 251 West 14th Street to be completed sometime in early 2022.

  1. Meh. Just meh.

  2. This reminds me of my stomach overhanding my belt.

  3. I hate my gutilever.

  4. Somehow with all these new buildings in Chelsea, it’s starting to look like an ‘Easter Parade’ on 5th Avenue!

    “Notice me”, “Notice ME”,
    “NO, NOTICE ME 1st”! ?

    After awhile, nobody will notice!
