Permits have been filed for a 28-story residential building at 126 East 57th Street on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown East, Manhattan. Located between Park and Lexington Avenues, the lot is two blocks south of the 59 Street-Lexington Avenue subway station, serviced by the 4,5, 6, N, R, and W trains. MRR Development is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 346-foot-tall development will yield 204,941 square feet, with 170,476 square feet designated for residential space and 4,056 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 145 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,175 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have two cellar levels but no accessory parking.

ODA Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in 2020 for the 15,220-square-foot lot. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. I’m sure most of the denizens of ‘Billionaires Row’ are very concerned how close the subway is.

  2. Why so short?

    • another beautiful brick building going down the drain for what?
Why don’t they just use the existing building and build on top or gut it and build out the condos.
      what a waste
another piece of nyc history down the drain

      • I think youre confused about which building is being demolished for this. Also you should be more concerned with the design ODA might have in mind. The previous renderings were comically bad.

  3. The construction of towers at Billionaire’s Row will never end, will it? Anyways, this sounds promising. Maybe a bit taller, though?

  4. This is NOT “Billionaires Row,” because that’s WEST 57th, as in West of Fifth Avenue. This is on EAST 57th Street, not an area with a bunch of ginormous buildings.
