Permits have been filed to turn a one-story commercial building into an 11-story mixed-use development at 526 Baltic Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Located between Nevins Street and Third Avenue, the lot is within walking distance of the Atlantic Avenue-Barclay Center subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, and R trains. Scott Pedowitz of Pedowitz Machinery Movers is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 148-foot-tall development will yield 74,629 square feet, with 63,674 square feet designated for residential space and 10,955 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 96 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 663 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 37-foot-long rear yard.

NY Building Associates is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits will likely not be needed since development plans call for an expansion. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
