The pricey Oosten condo development has topped out with seven stories at 429 Kent Avenue in South Williamsburg, and workers have begun installing the glassy facade on the building’s north side, along South 8th Street.

The Piet Boon-designed complex will eventually hold 201 condos and 15 townhouses, priced from $710,000 for a one-bedroom all the way up to $3,635,000 for a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath townhouse. Amenities include 108 parking spots, a 14,000-square-foot landscaped interior courtyard, an underground pool and a 10,000-square-foot nonprofit art gallery on the first two floors.

It encompasses nearly half a million square feet, stands 75 feet tall, and is one of the biggest projects rising in Williamsburg south of the ‘hood’s eponymous bridge. Also, the bits of the facade we’ve seen give us hope that it could look as nice as the renderings released last year.

The developer is XIN Development, a New York-based subsidiary of Beijing developer Xinyuan Real Estate Co. Think Architecture and Design is handling the facade design and serving as the architect of record.

The block-long project sits between South 8th, South 9th, Kent and Wythe Avenues and shares a huge development site with eight recently completed Hasidic apartment buildings. Construction began over a year ago, and is expected to finish late next year. This stretch of Kent Avenue is seeing plenty of action these days, between the Oosten, Hasidic developers, and the big Domino redevelopment a few blocks north.
