Today, YIMBY has the reveal for the updated design of 848 Lorimer Street, a six-story residential building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We last reported on the site in September, when the exterior featured arched masonry, and a modernist black metal façade with large windows. The new design raises the masonry up to the fourth floor, above which are two stories of curtain-wall glass windows.
848 Lorimer Street
Back in January of 2016, YIMBY reported on new building applications for 848 Lorimer Street, in Greenpoint. Now, the first renderings of the project are out, thanks to its architects, Meshberg Group. The site is located between Nassau and Driggs avenues, and the latest building applications also show some revisions compared to the original figures.
A strip of aging industrial buildings along McCarren Park in Greenpoint are gradually giving way to residential ones. First, an old school Polish bakery sold to Chatham Development Company for $8.7 million, and plans for a seven-story, two-tower condo building surfaced at the DOB. Now, new building applications have been filed for a six-story apartment building at 848 Lorimer Street, between Nassau and Driggs avenues.
