Eight-Story, 62-Key Hotel Building Now Planned At 822 4th Avenue, Greenwood

Over a year ago, YIMBY reported on filings for a nine-story, 72-key mixed-use hotel project at 822 Fourth Avenue, in Greenwood, four blocks south of the R train’s stop on 25th Street. Yesterday, the building was resubmitted to the DOB with slight downward revisions, probably due to zoning restrictions. Sunset Park-based Signature Management Enterprises is still the developer, and the building will now rise eight stories and have 62 hotel rooms. Healthcare facilities will span 18,000 square feet across floors two through four, and Chi F. Lau is the architect of record.

Six-Story, 20-Unit Residential Building Filed At 734 5th Avenue, Greenwood

Boaz Gilad, of Brooklyn-based Elevation Holdings, has filed applications for a six-story, 20-unit residential building at 734 5th Avenue, in Greenwood, two blocks away from the R train’s stop at 25th Street. The building will measure 14,446 square feet in total, which means units will average 722 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. Upper West Side-based Feingold & Gregory Architect is the applicant of record, and a single-story commercial building must first be demolished.

Landmarks Rejects Plan To Restore Weir Greenhouse As Part Of New Green-Wood Cemetery Visitors Center In Brooklyn

Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery wants to restore the Weir Greenhouse at 750 Fifth Avenue and connect it to a new building that would serve as a visitors center at 749-750 Fifth Avenue. While the Landmarks Preservation Commission loved the restoration idea, they weren’t ready to approve the project as presented on Tuesday.

Green-Wood Cemetery is planning to restore the landmarked Weir Greenhouse building at 750 5th Avenue and wants to construct a connected three-story office building for the nonprofit’s uses. Page Ayres Cowley is designing the project, and the landmarked structure was originally designed by Mercein Thomas in the 1880’s, but altered in 1895 by George Curtis Gillespie, according to Brownstoner. The LPC’s approval is required, and an adjacent two-story structure must be demolished.
