Excavation Imminent At 540 West 26th Street, Nine-Story Commercial Building In West Chelsea

In August of 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of Savanna Fund’s planned nine-story, 166,525 square-foot commercial building at 540 West 26th Street, in West Chelsea, and now the developer has secured $115 million in construction financing from Deutsche Bank, according to Commercial Observer. The building is expected to include a variety of tenants, and Avenues: The World School has already committed to leasing 85,421 square feet. Demolition of the old two-story building is complete, and excavation is expected to begin in October, with completion slated for 2017. Morris Adjmi Architects is designing.


1519 52nd Street

Four-Story Mixed-Use Project Planned at 1519 52nd Street, Borough Park

Michael Gross, operating as an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a four-story, single-residence mixed-use building at 1519 52nd Street, in southern Borough Park, between 15th and 16th Avenues. The entire building will measure 9,979 square feet, and includes a 1,955 square-foot religious facility in the basement level. The upper three levels will encompass an 8,024 square-foot home. Kenneth Thomas is the applicant of record, and a 2.5-story structure must first be demolished.


550 Vanderbilt Avenue

17-Story, 275-Unit Building Rising At 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, Pacific Park

Nearly a year ago, YIMBY revealed renderings of the 17-story, 275-unit condominium building planned at 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, in Prospect Heights, and this past summer we posted interior images of the building’s lobby and common areas. Construction is now well underway, and the structure is currently five stories tall, per the latest from Tectonic. A partnership between Greenland Group and Forest City Ratner is developing the building, which is one of many in their Pacific Park development. COOKFOX is designing, and completion is expected in 2017.


120 North 6th Street

Revealed: 120 North 6th Street, Williamsburg Office and Retail Conversion

Williamsburg’s ongoing development boom is stretching across all parts of the neighborhood, and includes everything from apartments to hotels and office buildings. But smaller infill is just as important in terms of rounding out the pedestrian realm, and now we have renderings of plans for an old warehouse at 120 North 6th Street, which Kenneth Park Architects will transform into both retail and office space.
