Earlier this year, YIMBY brought you news of a seven-story, 154-unit senior housing facility planned at 34-11 Beach Channel Drive, in Far Rockaway, and now DNAinfo reports city officials have broken ground on the project, located a block from the A train’s Beach 36th Street stop. Arker Companies is constructing the building, and 46 units will be rented to the formerly homeless. The ground floor will include 4,500 square feet each of retail and community facility space, and Aufgang Architects is designing.

The development will contain 127 rental units, which will be designated affordable housing for very low, low, and moderate income residents. The project will also contain 3,000 square feet of retail area and a parking structure designed to accommodate 50 motor vehicles.
