Renovation work is complete on 463 West 142nd Street, a historic five-story residential building in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan. Originally built in 1912 in the neo-Gothic style that was once a former convent of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, the project involved the restoration of the building’s limestone façade and arched windows as well as an interior overhaul, and yields 14 residential units. The property is located between Convent and Amsterdam Avenues and Brown Harris Stevens Development is managing sales and marketing for the homes.

The renovated residences feature double-hung windows, European white oak wood flooring, dedicated washer and dryer closets, and private outdoor space in select units. Amenities include a roof terrace with dining area and seating, a lobby library and waiting area, virtual doorman service, bicycle storage, and residential storage.

“463 West 142nd Street is a beautiful, historic conversion that was done right, thoughtfully considered and executed to bring modern-day elements while preserving the historic nature of the building,” said Whitney Osentoski, licensed real estate salesperson for Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing, which is handling exclusive marketing and sales for the project. “The beauty of the building is matched by the serene setting offered in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood.”

A beautiful renovation and reuse of a former convent. This is how you do it.

  4. This building glows..Thank you.

  5. Wow what a gem this building is, and the renovation is beautiful. However, I just wish they could have done something more creative and appropriate for those pointed arch windows rather than double hung squares. They look awful from the inside, in my opinion.
