One World Trade has finally surpassed the Empire State Building in height, and should be topped-out (to the roof, not the mast) by the end of June. The site is very busy, and work on the massive project continues, but the milestone finally brings the title of New York’s tallest building back Downtown.
Despite the milestone, the title (by roof, at least) is likely to revert back to Midtown within two to three years, as 432 Park begins rising. Regardless, restoring the Downtown skyline is very important, and the new World Trade Center goes a long way towards accomplishing that goal.
