Construction is moving along at 160 East 22nd Street, which will eventually rise twenty-one stories. Developed by Toll Brothers, the project will be clad in Indiana limestone and cantilever over its mustard-toned neighbor, pictured below. Much of Toll Brothers’ recent work in New York has been high quality, and hopefully 160 East 22nd won’t prove an exception; if it comes close to resembling The Touraine, it will be very nice.
Two blocks west, Related’s addition to One Madison Park appears to have topped-out. There was speculation that a Koolhaas-designed tower would rise, but the final product is actually a diminutive six floors. The Observer reports that the new structure—official address, 23 East 22nd Street—will serve as the skyscraper’s lobby, while also containing two duplex residences.
