It’s been over a year since YIMBY first reported on four new apartment buildings coming to 335-341 Nostrand Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Now, we have renderings for the 24-unit project, which is under construction between Gates Avenue and Quincy Street.

Issac and Stern is designing the identical, four-story buildings. Like many of their projects in Bed-Stuy, the facade will be brick and relatively contextual. In some ways, the new structures will resemble a slightly taller, more modern version of the brick walk-ups that occupied the site for decades. But they’ll come with the benefits of new construction, like bigger windows and taller ground floor retail spaces.

Each new building will rise 54 feet into the air and hold five apartments. The apartments will be spread across 4,200 square feet, yielding 840-square-foot average units. The ground floor of each building will have 1,300 square feet of retail, which will replace the now-demolished storefronts that lined this block of Nostrand.

The builders likely chose to break the project up into four buildings to avoid building a 12-car garage, which would be required if all 24 apartments were constructed in one building.

The developer is Scott Kushnick, doing business as an LLC based in Briarwood, Queens. The firm closed on the four 20-foot-wide sites in April of last year for $2,800,000.
