The old wood frame houses and brick walk-ups along Bushwick Avenue in Williamsburg are slowly giving way to new concrete and glass. Today, we have a look at a new building headed for the corner of Bushwick Avenue and Powers Street, around the corner from the Grand Street L stop.

The development at 70 Bushwick Avenue will rise seven stories and 65 feet into the air. It’ll hold 20 apartments and 13,657 square feet of residential space, for an average apartment of 682 square feet.

The units will be rentals, and construction is underway. The building’s steel frame is complete, and the facade is starting to take shape.

Each floor will have two or four units. While there won’t be parking (none is required), the cellar will offer storage space for 10 bikes.

The facade, designed by Input Creative Studio, will incorporate an eclectic mix of materials, like corrugated metal, black and white facade panels, and glassy balconies. The clock on the Powers Street side of the building is an interesting touch too.

Joel Kohn’s Bushwick Powers LLC is the developer. The firm, which is based in Mineola, N.Y., picked up the two lots in the development site for a combined $4,650,000 last year.
