YIMBY revealed initial renderings of Simon Baron Development’s 269 West 87th Street back in September of 2015, before the latest image for the project was posted back in February. Now, construction is finally making headway at the site, which is about six floors out of the ground, per the latest photos from Tectonic.
FXFOWLE Architects is behind the design, which will certainly respect the context of the pre-war dominated surrounds. As the progress photos make obvious, the structure’s envelope will greatly enhance the block’s street-wall.
The building will eventually rise 17 floors and 215 feet to the top of its mechanical bulkheads, with 115,884 square feet of residential space within, to be divided amongst 39 generously sized condominiums. Completion is likely in about eighteen months, or around the beginning of 2019.
