Permits have been filed for a two-story structure to be built in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The new garage compound will be an addition to the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation facilities, and the department is behind the applications.
The exact location of the new building within the park not yet been announced, but the department has commented that it will allow staff to relocate out of the Park’s Tennis House. This will allow the historic building to return to its original public use, and will also allow the removal of a series of containers housed on the Park’s Center Drive.
The 29-foot tall facility will yield 2,200 square feet within, dedicated to community facility use. Offices will occupy both floors, with one parking space available on site.
The Prospect Park Alliance will be responsible for the design. The estimated completion date has not been announced.
