The transformation of White Plains’s former Westchester Financial Center into City Square will be a grand one. The vision for the new mixed-use project by Ginsburg Development Companies includes renovation of Class A office space at 50 Main Street, an addition of 19,540 square feet of restaurant and retail space along Main Street and Martine Avenue, and converting the office building at 1 Martine Avenue into 188 rental units.

City Square will be located one block east of the White Plains Metro-North station, currently undergoing a $92 million renovation. It’s also located close to the Galleria White Plains and the Gateway to White Plains. It will be the first development project under the new Transit District Development Zone, increasing the walkability in the area surrounding the train station.

In April of this year, Ginsburg purchased sites for 50 Main Street, 1-11 Martine office buildings, and parking garage—totaling 571,000 square feet—for $83 million. Completing the square block is 37 South Lexington Avenue, a 122-unit residential building already in the Ginsburg portfolio.

50 Main Street will see upgrades such as various conference and meeting rooms, a new cafeteria with outdoor dining, a fitness center and a yoga room, exhibit area and a golf simulator. The conversion of 1 Martine into rental apartments will have a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. The entire complex will have access to “City Square Park,” a landscaped roof deck on top of the parking garage with features like a large fountain, a putting green, a BBQ pavilion and a walking path with landscaping and sculpture features.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: It’s conductive on development and no conditional that I don’t like. I confer for color.

  2. Erm…you do know there are a lot of people of color in White Plains, right? Your plan-pic is a little, well…pale.
