Work has officially begun on The Huguenot, one of latest developments to begin construction as part of an initiative to transform and reinvigorate downtown New Rochelle. From developer CAC Realty Group, the property is located at 387 Huguenot Street and will eventually contain a mix of residential area, retail space, and a community-operated art gallery. The structure will top off at six stories and measure approximately 54,000 square feet.

The residential area will include 60 units ranging from studio units to two-bedroom layouts. A total of seven apartments will be marketed as affordable homes. Amenities will include a fitness center, a communal lounge, bike storage, a pet spa, and an on-site parking garage. Outdoors, residents can enjoy a rooftop garden, a recreation space with outdoor cooking facilities, and a dog run.

Ground floor retail and community spaces will span 1,000 square feet each.

“We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with CAC Realty, as the groundbreaking of The Huguenot marks another stride forward in New Rochelle’s downtown redevelopment initiative,” said Luiz Aragon, New Rochelle’s development commissioner. “Upon completion, The Huguenot will serve as a shining example of the revitalization plan’s goal of creating vibrant downtown locations.”

The redevelopment initiative was officially rolled out in 2015 and is expected to spur around 12 million square feet of new construction. This includes up to 2.4 million square feet of office space, one million square feet of retail, 6,370 housing units, and 1,200 hotel rooms. The effort is projected to attract 12,000-15,000 new residents to the area.

  1. Thanks to YIMBY: I can see true colors; I can see inborn nature; I can see character, and I can see instinct onto design toward the structure. Thanks for reporting on your business; on your affairs; on your work; on your things, and on your matter. It looks like good-looking woman or beautiful girl to attract everybody to stop and see, so irrelevantly viewed about development, but I just wanted to worship bright building. From developer’s brainpower.
