Permits have been filed for a seven-story house of worship building at 1981 Madison Avenue in Harlem, Manhattan. Located between East 126th Street and East 127th Street, the lot is two blocks from the 125th Street subway station at Lexington Avenue, serviced by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. Metropolitan Community United Methodist Church is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 79-foot-tall development will yield 33,768 square feet, with 26,806 square feet designated for community facility space. The building will have one residential unit of an undisclosed square footage. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar and a 34-foot-long rear yard.

Shaneekua Henry of SLM Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in January 2019 for the lot, along with adjacent sites 45 East 126th Street and 1975 Madison Avenue. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
