Pilings and Excavation Continue at 625 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Below-grade work is continuing to progress at 625 Fulton Street, the site of a planned 35-story tower in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects and developed by Rabsky Group, which closed on $450 million in construction financing from Madison Realty Capital, the building will yield 1,098 units, 26,000 square feet of retail space, and a parking garage for up to 250 vehicles. The project has gone through numerous design iterations since its conception, including work by Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and is located on a plot bound by Fulton Street to the south, Hudson Avenue to the west, Rockwell Place to the east, and the 34-story 80 DeKalb Avenue to the north.

Photographs show ongoing work with excavating and pilings. Parts of the new foundation have been poured around the northern end of the property since our last update in May 2021.

The main rendering depicts a multi-story podium with a landscaped roof deck that will likely occupy the majority of the parcel. The main tower will be built directly above in a U-shaped configuration. The edges of the residential floor plates are lined with a stack of balconies facing Fulton Street, and the western-facing walls are shown enclosed with a grid of floor-to-ceiling windows broken up by a grid of white paneling. A smaller landscaped outdoor terrace appears to be nestled near the top of the center of the superstructure. A relatively flat roof parapet caps the tower.

625 Fulton Street will yield 342 studios, 492 one-bedrooms, and 264 two-bedroom apartments. It was last announced that 30 percent of the homes will be designated for affordable housing.

A completion date for 625 Fulton Street remains unclear.

    It’s huge. It definitely is dull, but it’s basically infill as Brooklyn continues the building boom.

  3. I still miss the old SOM design. This design is just puffy and basic.

    • It may be “dull” and “basic”, but that can be better than trendy. Basic will usually blend-in better with the city, whereas trendy may age very badly, making future people wonder “what were they thinking?”

  4. No problems with this design, it has balconys appears to be of high quality construction, and fills a housing need for the area… Hopefully some public transit improvements come with it! A welcome addition!

  6. 30 % affordable for who, middle income albeit, then squeeze small amount of 40 50,000 year earners which is consider low income, but some how it b labeled at 130 AMI, SMH

    It’s absurd the developer had to waste money on 250 parking spots in one of the most transit-rich areas in the city. NYC needs to end minimum parking requirements. It’ll reduce costs of construction and make building housing, especially affordable housing, easier.

    • The parking is underground, it’s not like it’s taking the space of an apartment.

    • Yes sir 250 parking spots with a bunch of subway lines all over the area. Very disgusted. The space should be used for more affordable housing

  9. This the greatest metropolis in the world 🌎. We should be building into the sky. I’ve lived in this city over 60yrs but you all sound like a bunch of crying 😢, complaining old woman who minds everyone’s business but their own. Man…Let it go & let’s build this city for everyone. Move to New Jersey if you can’t pay the high rents but look where your living. In the greatest city on earth 🌎.
