Permits have been filed for a 13-story residential building at 77 East 125th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan. Located between Park and Madison Avenues, the lot is near the 125th Street subway station, served by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. Salvatore D’avola of Neighborhood Renewal HDFC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 132-foot-tall development will yield 32,190 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 32 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,005 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 32-foot-long rear yard.
Christopher Jones of Magnusson Architecture and Planning is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

This must also include the attractive walk-up next door because there’s no way this lot alone could fit 32,000 sq ft over 13 floors. If true, it would be really nice if the design included incorporating the facade and stepping back the new building above it to give the corn building some space.

NYC history disappearing everywhere
For better or worse, the operative word in the name of our city is not ‘York’.
Harlem remains an architectural gem and it would be a terrible shame to lose its character and history because bureaucrats feel compelled to favor wealthy developers who want to destroy it. This option doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
I see no gems in any of the buildings in the pictures here
Maybe you’re blind. 79 E 125 is a beautiful building that woukd look fantastic restored and paired with the new build. Of course that would take a developer that actually gave a F and a talented architect…
125th needs to be reimagined from river to river. the recent developments that have happened in East Harlem are welcome
