Earlier this week, the City Planning Commission approved Hudson Companies’ proposal to build a 36-story, 139-unit mixed-use building at the site of the Brooklyn Heights Public Library, at 280 Cadman Plaza West, according to Politico. Over the summer, renderings were released of the the building, which would include a new 21,500 square-foot library on the ground floor, along with community and retail spaces. The City Counsel expects to vote on the proposal before the end of the year, which would complete the ULURP process and allow for construction of the project. Marvel Architects is designing.
The developer is also building two eight-story affordable residential buildings, totaling 117 units, at 1043 Fulton Street and 907 Atlantic Avenue, in Clinton Hill, in exchange for building on the library site.
