In 2008, non-profit Pratt Area Community Council and BFC Partners finished construction on a six-story, 48-unit affordable building at 15 Quincy Street in Clinton Hill. Now a charter school may join the low-income development between Classon and Grand Avenues, right next to the border with Bed-Stuy.
New building applications filed last week call for a seven-story school on the site. The affordable housing has a large parking lot behind it on Lexington Avenue, and we suspect the new school will rise there. The 75-foot-tall structure would hold 43,448 square feet of community facility space. The ground floor would have a lobby, cafeteria, kitchen, offices, and a patio, followed by a mezzanine for seating and then four stories of classrooms and offices. The sixth floor would host a resource room, teacher’s lounge, and lockers, and gym would fill most of seventh floor.
There would also be a 17-car garage underground.
Stamford, Conn.-based Partners for Architecture will handle the design.
PACC, which is now known as ImPACCt Brooklyn, manages several low- and middle-income housing developments throughout Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy. 15 Quincy apparently offered four studios for those earning between $22,400 and $27,815, and 34 one-bedrooms for singles and couples making between $23,960 and $29,588. The project was apparently linked to the Toren at 150 Myrtle Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. BFC Partners finished construction on the 37-story, 240-unit condo tower in 2009, and 42 of those apartments were sold through a city-run lottery as “affordable” condos.

Into the plan and demanded on permits filed, so I want to know what’s going on. (seven-story)
