The Upper East Side is about to see another new condominium development with super-sized units, this time at 148 East 78th Street, which will yield a 15-story building rising 205 feet to its rooftop. The generously-sized ceilings will be matched by the floorplans for the 26 condos, which will average 2,600 square feet apiece, with 68,293 square feet of residential space in total. There will also be 3,739 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Ismael Leyva Architects is listed as the architect of record, and John Usdan of Midwood Management Corp. is the developer. Demolition permits for two existing buildings were filed earlier this month.

Gets taller than previous but building.
For these kinds of projects, it would be useful to have stats on numbers of units demolished vs. number of units built. Is this a net loss of units?
Lived on East 78th before the Empire went up on the corner of 3rd and that other monstrosity just in from Lexington on the north side of the street. Now this! What was once a beautiful block is finished. Shameful.
Please let me know as soon as they are for sale
